Music industry legend Don Randi will grace the Behringer Center Stage at NAMM for 2 must-see appearances this weekend.
Randi has played piano and keyboards on numerous recordings both as a sideman and arranger to the stars. He also leads his own jazz band "Quest", and has released 20 albums – the most recent is 2013's Acoustimania.He is known for many recordings as a member of "The Wrecking Crew", Phil Spector's famous "Wall of Sound" band. He has played for The Ronettes, The Righteous Brothers, Elvis Presley, The Everly Brothers, Linda Ronstadt, Nancy Sinatra, Neil Diamond, The Beach Boys, Neil Young and many many more many many more.
Don will share the stage with guitarist John DePatie, with whom he created Acoustimania. The album is comprised of 12 of their original compositions, performed on a Boesendorfer piano and nylon-string guitar. Latin and jazz elements are present, but the duo also bring their experience from other genres. “It's one of the best albums I've recorded,” says Randi, “but most of all, performing these songs live is a magical journey for the audience – and the musicians."
John DePatie met Don Randi while auditioning for Nancy Sinatra's band. The two did many recording sessions and live performances with Sinatra, then DePatie joined Randi's band.DePatie's other work includes recordings with San Diego singer-songwriter Will Faeber / Cathouse Thursday, plus live performances with Leif Garrett – and both studio and live work with Washington, D.C.-based artist, Kim Cameron. John has a also released several jazz and fusion recordings of his own, and is currently writing music for children's audio books.
